BRISBANE: Alliance Airlines will – literally – give wings to Australians diagnosed with breast cancer today.
Australia’s leading aviation services provider will unveil a new Fokker 70 to promote the invaluable work of charity partner Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
Hailed as the Pink Lady, VH-NUU has been prepared in pink livery to raise awareness of breast cancer and the support services BCNA deliver.
Alliance Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Lee Schofield, said, “The work of BCNA was a cause close to the hearts of the company’s personnel and supporters.”
“Alliance has been supporting BCNA since 2015. This has been
through our workplace giving programme and a number of fundraising initiatives including a charity cycling event which raised in excess of $65,000.”
“I personally rode in this cycling event along with 15 other Alliance personnel between Cairns and Townsville in 2018. We met with a number of breast cancer survivors in the towns we visited who have been supported by BCNA. Their courage and enthusiasm
with the BCNA team inspired us to commit to the Pink Lady.”
“Nearly 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Most people know someone who has been touched by this life-threatening illness,” Schofield said.
“Alliance Airlines is proud to support the work BCNA does. Throughout Australia, from our main airports to regional cities and towns, the Pink Lady will be a visual reminder of this important cause and share the support that BCNA provides for those
Australians affected by breast cancer.”
BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti expressed gratitude to Alliance Airlines for the generous support.
“It’s a wonderful way for BCNA to reach more Australians affected by breast cancer.
It really is a beautiful representation of BCNA as the wind beneath the wings of our members.”
“‘This is a positive opportunity for BCNA. It enables us to connect with major cities and regional communities to ensure women and families affected by breast cancer across the country know where to source support.”
